Prologue
Most companies with this many divisions are a holding pattern. Ours is a loop.
It started as software for finding real-estate deals. To keep it honest, we used it ourselves — first to find and market local businesses, then to watch over homes and buildings, then to buy them.
Every step handed something to the next: the code that scores a storefront also scores a building; the sensor that protects a tenant also informs the next offer; the residents of that building are the customers of the shop down the street.
One owner. One engineering team. One customer record that every division reads. Different names on the door, because each one serves different people.
